Hi. I have a Gateway desktop with the builtin intel graphics chip and a cheap envision monitor. The colors on the monitor look really washed out. I can't see anything light on a white background. Should I change the graphics card or the monitor?

Thank you

Try changing the monitor and see if that solves it. If not - stick in a working graphics card and try that out. Let us know what happens. :)

Hit the "auto" button on the monitor, it might adjust itself out of the problem. Might help to do this while actually displaying a problematic image on the display (something with light on a white background).

Oh yeah...I forgot about that....:D ...that's of course if they monitor's an LCD.....of all the CRT ones I got, none has this "auto" button that auto balances things out.:)

If you can't find that button, do as I said in my first reply.

Sounds like a gamma problem. I would start by switching cables and then tweaking the desktop gamma settings.
