on most traffic signals around here in toledo, the red is vibrant red so i see it. the yellow is a vibrant yellow to me as well, but the green. oh, i was poked fun at by some friends when i had to be told the green light is really green (this was a couple years ago). I was like 'why do they call it a green light when its just white'... needless to say, they got a laugh out of it lmao
i did too, cuz well i know im color blind, just it really is interesting to find out how things really look like to others
its no accurate analogy, but its similar to blind people who finally can see after some surgery or something. or more accurately, its like a blind person being told what its like to see. for me, i like being told what its like to see the colors that i apparently dont see.
im red/green colorblind too.. thats the most common, having the blue rod/cone effected is rarer than red/green.
its funny when people ask me though, whats it like to not see color. im like, i can see color. just not every shade. and then the tests of 'what color is my shirt' and 'what color is this' and that, and this, and that... lol some people are really thick, i've learned
im not sure how others are, but for me, i can see vibrant shades... like, what would be considered pure pink, red, orange, purple, blue, cyan, green, brown, yellow, grey... etc etc etc, i can see just fine.. but throw in those damned green lights, that are not a vibrant green, i cant see it... i dunno, i consider the 'pure' shades to be ones i can see, cuz i can obviously see them so there must be something about them that makes me able to see them.
it would be great for some kind of gene therapy to fix the afflicted gene so us color blinds are no longer colorblind, and more specifically rid the gene from our body so we cannot pass it on.
