Colorado Governor: PETA ?A Bunch Of Losers,? ?Frauds?

Bill Owens the Colorado governer thinks PETA should spend money to save livestock stranded from Colorado's blizzard which will be used as food in the future. This is paramont to PETA donating their money and resources to the beef industry of Amerca which is something they would never do. Bill owens then says this about PETA: ""What a bunch of losers. Don't give your money to PETA."

"As many as 340,000 cows and steers have been left stranded by southeastern Colorado's most recent snowstorm, and National Guard units are helping ranchers in a frantic bid to save the freezing animals. Faced with 15-foot snowdrifts, rescuers are airlifting bales of hay and hoping for the best. But as Coloradans are learning, the wealthy People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) isn't about to lift a finger. Not forthose animals -- the ones destined to be flame-broiled, grilled, or roasted. Appearing on Denver radio station KRFX yesterday morning, Colorado Governor Bill Owens spoke for all of us. PETA, he declared, are "a bunch of losers"..."

I think it's a bit more ... logical if you look at it in a different way...

He's pretty much stating there's two stances:

1) Ignore the situation and let them die in an inhumane way by freezing/starving to death.

2) Preserve them so we can eat them... yummm beef.

Sure, they die both ways, but at least one way isn't as "bad".

It's just good to hear a Governor call them out like that :) Michael will like this thread, I think.

I am looking at this situation with a jaundiced view point. Yea, PETA are a bunch of crazies most of the time but when they did something logical in this case... I think Bill Owens is a clown for "calling them out".

he's right about them being frauds an dlosers; but asking them to pay to help livestock is ridiculous.

PETA is not looked upon with respect by anyone in the livestock industry. Their focus seems to be on harassing the commercial furriers.

The bigger issue is the lack of helicopters the Colorado Air Guard has to use for disaster relief. Where are they? You already know.

??? PETA's goal is to prevent it unethical treatment of animals by PEOPLE. PETA would have no problem with a bear killing a goat for food, no matter how gruesome the method. This is called natural selection.

PETA's agenda has nothing to do with the treatment of animals, ethical or otherwise, it has everything to do with who is allowed to raise and sell animals.

IMO it's not as simple as you make it out to be. You need to know which wars to fight. PETA's stance is "hey, we could help save the animals for now but you are going to slaughter them and leave them subjected to crappy conditions anyways so why bother." If the livestock owners said something like "PETA, if you spend your resources to save our cows we will let them be free and die of natural causes" I'm sure PETA would be all over it. Seems pretty easy to understand to me
