Boulder and surrounding areas have received about 10" of rain in the last 2 days. The creeks have crested with lots of localized flooding, and now there's this:

BREAKING: Surge of water, mud, rocks, debris, incl cars, about 30 feet deep heading down Fourmile Creek. Hitting #Boulder Creek at midnight

I think we may be front page news tomorrow. Good luck everyone, be safe.

Floods? Didn't they have huge wildfires just recently? Sounds like a great place to live...

Outhouse is in Boulder and has not signed on since 9-11, that is not like him.

Hope him and his family is ok.

Boulder nearly got hit the hardest, but from what I've heard he probably got his power cut off.

I was just there doing some work stuff. If my flight didn't leave so early yesterday morning my route to the airport would have been cut off. Crazy how quickly things can happen.

This is God's punishment for legalizing the Devil Weed. Hope someone built an Ark.

Heavy flooding coming down all the canyons along the front range.

Potential to impact Coors?

Platte River is rising and also Cherry Creek into the reservoir. May have to crack some of the flood gates.

The fires last year burned off the supporting vegetation.
Mud slides and less ground cover to hold the water back to soak in.

Partly that, partly Boulder is filled with filthy hippies. Just like in New Orleans, sometimes people are forced to take a much needed bath...

It's actually a fantastic place to live. I've lived all over the country - literally - and every place has had its ups and downs, but I'd take CO over everywhere else all things considered. The rain is bothersome and the fires obviously aren't ideal, but overall neither is really a big deal for the vast majority of people.

Hush, you! We don't need any more Californians and Texans moving here. :p It is a fantastic place to visit, though. ;)

If you live on top of a hill like me, floods are no big deal. :) But fires are more of a big deal. :(

Watered down more, is that even possible?

We really haven't been affected at all in downtown the downtown Denver area, but in the surrounding areas, it has been crazy. Really feel for all of those people who's property or businesses are being affected.

Nothing seems to happen in moderation around here anymore.

Over 500 are reported missing now and more rain to come today. The recent fires and now the floods just compound it for people in the mountains as those are just mudslide raceways now. I've been here for a long time and never seen anything like this here. 300+ days of sun a year is our normal.

Yeah, it's pretty bad in Boulder, Longmont, and surrounding areas. I'm dry here and my friends are wet but okay.

Here's an aerial video of the water in Longmont yesterday
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=*********&v=WKPb9iHGVEE

It does'nt look that bad in the video. Are the waters down from their crest there?

In NY we got about that much flooding during Irene. The creeks and streams washed out roads and bridges deposited huge heaps of mud on side roads adjacent to them. In some places houses were undermined and fell into the waterways.
