I'm sure this was discussed before, but these threads are rare, so please bare me.
I want to discuss color/video quality of different GPUs. Is there a difference between latest radeon and geforce? Is there a difference between 6600Gt and 680gtx ?
Perhaps it all depends on the display solely and there's no quality difference between GPUs?

here is a old test with Beta Battlefield 3, from 2011.
These are Zoomed-in so as to easier compaire, both running same settings.

and compaire yourself.

I feel like this is whats normal.
Amd's colours are bit more washed out (at distance), but "hide" less details in dark area's and shadows.
Nvidias are slightly more vibrant (at distance).

The hardware does matter some, I know the 7xxx series got rid of that annouying "shimmering" effect 5xxx/6xxx series seemed to suffer from more than their nvida counter-parts did. Amd now has "less" shimmering than nvidia cards (which means vertually non).

The 7970 in general has better image quality than the 5xxx/6xxx series does.

I think a lot has to do with the display, but nvidia has always looked better to me. Keep in mind, though, that the last AMD GPU I used was a 5770, a 4850 before that, and a 1900XTX before that. They all looked pretty bad to me compared to nvidia, although nvidia is far from perfect. I thought the IQ of the 9700 Pro was pretty bad, but some (not all) of it was due to the OpenGL drivers (I had tried Jedi Outcast on it when ATi's GL drivers were known for being terrible).

Both AMD and nVidia are old hats at this GPU game. I don't think there's a noticable difference in IQ, IMO.

There isn't. Between them and Intel though, there's a noticeable difference. That difference has mostly disappeared with IVB, but it still exists.
