I can't seem to figure out what type of panel my current LCD is.

My current LCD is a Viewsonic VX910, manufacturered 2005 (i think... the model no. on back is VS10162). It is perfectly fine to me in terms of viewing angle, color reproduction, and clarity of blacks in gaming.

But, i want to get a bigger monitor.

I'm currently thinking of the 28" HannsG from Costco for 500 dollars. I dont think viewing angle is gonna be a real problem considering how i'm sitting, the fact i am about 3-3.5 feet from the screen, and it's gonna be back another .5 feet when i mount it to the wall.

So i'm wondering, is it gonna be an upgrade in color quality? downgrade? stay the same? i should note, i'd be perfectly happy with stay the same.

Your current diplay is a TN.

The farther away you are, the worse they get, especially for something of that size [viewing angles on a 28"].

I'd suggest going into a store to check that or something similar out to see if it bother or not.

Not everyone notices the color shifting, so you might be just fine.

Or you might find it horrible.

well, my point is i sit fairly far away, staring at the screen on a level plane. if i do get this panel, i'm going to be mounting it on the wall slightly higher than my current screen, and facing it downward. (so again, my line of view is directly perpendicular to the screen face) so, viewing angle wouldnt be a big problem to me....to my knowledge.

Thanks for the information. i guess i'm just gonna have to see if it's currently in stock at the local costco.

i assumed that's what he meant, seeing as the same amount of movement 2 feet away from the panel as compared to 5 feet away from the panel corresponds to a much greater change in viewing angle.
