So our old picked-from-the-college-library-dump Okidata laser printer (OK, digital LED, same thing) is on its last legs We have a couple of spare toner cartridges to go but the conductor module is about to go. The wife disposed of her old inkjet at the computer recycling event in NYC this weekend too, so it looks like it's time for a new printer, a color laser printer, with her blessing and encouragement.

To get a new toy with automatic high WAF (wife approval factor) is like Christmas in October! :D So, what do you all suggest? Staples has some nice deals:

$400 AR Okidata C5200ne

$379 AR Konica Minolta Magicolor 2430DL

The first has an optional duplexing kit which I think is pretty nifty, as we are always printing two sided stuff, but reviews cite it for having pretty blah color output. Both are network-enabled, a "must-have" feature these days (who wants to buy a printer server?). PostScript would be nice, but it's not worth an extra couple hundred ducats.

I have also been looking at cheap Colors. Most places tend to rate the 2430 very well, I have no idea what the DL tag means.

HOWEVER, every review made it clear that the Konica Minoltas ship with low-capacity cartridges. Which means you'll have to spend a lot more money very soon on hi-cap toner cartidges.

Am not sure about the Okidata.

The Okidata reviews I've seen are like a year old, which makes a comparison tricky. Thanks for the input! Have you decided yet? Getting it from Staples is desirable as we have a few rewards coupons which need to be used.
