I have the Minolta 2490MF. Few things I like and hate:
Cons:
Nosy and has the annoying calibration once awhile
4-pass laser engine make it slow to print color
Software is very simple (but there's a good side of this see the Pros)
scanner software lacks advance functions
not much of good aftermarket toner
duplexer unit is additional $450
Costs $680
Pros:
true Legal size scanner.
Build-in scanner sheet-feeder.
good scanner hardware (although the software sux) and supports TWAIN
color output is outstanding for a laser printer
OEM toners are cheaper than HP and are rated with higher page counts.
network setup is as easy as HP's jetdirect
supports network scanning
it has a real fax machine
simple and fast software unlike the typical overly bloated HP software
the user can install only parts of the software, HP forces you to install everything which typical anywhere between 200-500mb typically.
The software is very stable and supports all variants of Windows
It's a true postscript color printer, which means you don't even need to install the printer driver, just the postscript definition file
