Dell Optiplex 280
Hauppauge PVR-500
EVGA 7200GS PCI-E
Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 with all newest drivers

I run S-Video out from the 7200GS to my TV, the color on the Vista desktop and the Media Center GUI is perfect. There isn't a hint of color wash out or any tint/hue problems. The problem arises whenever I view LIVE TV or any of the sample videos from within Media Center. . There is 4-5 inch purplish tint across the top of the display and the color seems very washed out. Not to mention, watching the display calibration videos in Media Center results in every human person in the videos having a blue face. I can change the color settings on my TV but it doesn't erase the problem either.

I thought maybe it was the 25ft S-Video cable but I used the short 6ft cable that came with the video card and the same problem still exists. I tweaked a few color settings in the Nvidia control Panel but it doesn't erase the problem.

I had thought maybe a TUBE was blown on the TV but there is no color problems while watching TV over the coaxial cable

I had used a different setup, MCE2005 and a FX5200 S-Video out to this same TV two years ago with zero problems.

I can't rule it on hardware, why would the display look perfect on the Vista desktop and Media Center GUI?

Which other nvidia driver should I try first?

An alternate media player might fix it. My personal favorite is to use Media Player Classic, and to decode video with FFDshow. MPC + FFDshow is a great combination.

It's possible that the 7200 isnt supported, but I'd be surprised if this was the case. I see 7100 and 7300 models on the supported hardware list, but I don't see any 7200's.

You won't be able to do any HD with that card. The ATI 2600 series and 3450 are very good for VMC and they are very cheap.

Notice I said the usage of his box is purely for the Media Center program, can't replace that :p and isn't a HD TV

The color problems were also in Windows Media Player, both full screen and standard view with movies playing. And as I suspected the problem was.. Nvidia drivers. Aha Removed the 175.19 and the color problems are gone

Guess I am going to stick with the default Windows Provided since I see no slowdown really and if I notice any quirks in Media Center I will play with the drivers.

Default Vista driver, live tv was black and white.

178.13, same problems exists as OP

169.xx did the trick. One area I noticed a difference between the 169.xx and the 17x.xx is that 169.xx has a hue adjustment (which is set at zero) but the 17x.xx lack any such adjustment slider
