Color Correct Displays?

Hey guys,

New to the forums, blah blah, have a serious question: any recommendations for color correct displays? Right now I'm using an Acer G24 and Viewsonic (the 3D one), but I've since played less and less PC games and gotten more into photography.

Now I've got my D7000, but on my Viewsonic pictures all look too cool and on my Acer they look too warm. As far as I've seen, Anand and Team don't review displays - which is a damn shame, mind you, because I've been looking to do that forever - and I'm looking for a color-correct display, or as close as I can get. Most I've heard get 90%-98%, which is fine (more correct, the better), but price is the biggest issue because I've spent most of my available funds on the camera equipment itself.

Point being, any suggestions for color correct displays, preferably 24"+, bearing price in mind?

You want an IPS panel. here are some examples. 24", 27", and 30"

In Windows 7, you can calibrate your monitor's colors. I'm not talking absolute perfection or Pantone precision, but if you Click Win+R, you get the RUN menu. Then type DCCW. That opens up your display calibration Wizard. It can help any display.

Factors such as brightness, contrast, and gamma can all have an effect on what you see. Also, your own vision.

First you need a frame of reference.

It is expensive for a 9" x 13" color card board, but that is the Standard.

Then you put the card next to the Monitor and you celebrate the screen.

Then you save the a screen shoot, print and calibrate the printer too.

One of those + one of these X-rite colorimeters = very accurate colors.
