Had a problem was hoping someone had an idea to try before sending this card back to Newegg.haven't been keeping up with the newer gaming hardware lately, and this is my nephews system.

Everything runs fine except Fallout 3,and World Of Worldcraft.
once playing it will get distorted textures with bright colors, and then usually locks up.can minimze and the colors go back to normal, but most of the time i have to power down.

It will play world of warcraft fine in Opengl with no problems, but thats the only way to get it to run right.

with his 7900 geforce, all the games run fine without these problems.

Specs: (non overclocked)
MSI 9600 GT OC (new from newegg)
DFI NF UltraII-M2
AMD x2 6000+
2g DDR2
Winxp Pro
CoolerMaster 500W PSU
System runs cool

Ran 3dmark,Crysis,Source Engine, and other games, and the system runs flawless.

Have newest Nforce chipset, and video drivers.(have also tried older video drivers)

May shoot for a reinstall if worse comes to worse, but strange everything runs fine but those 2 games.

Thanks for any input.

Which model is that PSU? May be a power issue but i doubt it. The power needs of the 7900 copaired to the 9600 are not all that differnt. You may want to try a clean install of the video drivers.

Go into safe mode and unistall the video drivers. Then run drive cleaner to ensure all the video drivers have been removed. Then you can install the new drivers. Sometimes installing the new drivers over the old will cause problems.

Thanks for reply.

Yea i've removed his old drivers, driver cleaner as well as usual.
can check Model of PSU but don't believe thats the case.
just got it new from the egg thinking the same thing.

was using an older 350w with the 7900 with no problems.

May try a complete reinstall later tonight or in the morning.
looking for anymore suggestions until then.

Thanks.
