Collusion on online poker sites.

Asking if any of us do anything illegal? No.

I don't doubt it happens though. Ive had many friends want to collude with me, but I play worse when I play soft against one person, or am basing my decisions off of what cards they hold etc...

I don't think collusion is illegal is it? Because playing online poker isn't exactly legal in most states.

Its definetely against the TOS of the online sites.

Not me, but I have heard of people using poker bots that play for them.

I can't imagine bots being THAT successful. I mean, Ive heard of them before too. But I figure its just myths/rumors. People have told me that a well written bot could be sold for THOUSANDS of dollars and that they are actually very valuable programs, but I highly doubt anyone can make a computer program that can learn to read/adapt to live players that can change their habits on a dime.

I think the point of such a bot would be to calculate the odds when making decisions not to read the other players.

But the odds are dependant on the other players. How they've played, what they've bet, etc...

Ha! I'm remembering an old dos poker game, and I would play 5 card draw against ~5 computer opponents. Except they were all dumb, I'd draw one card each hand, and they all thought I had 2-pair or better. I'd win like 9 out of every 10 hands on pure bluffs.

I disagree, the type of bot that dissipate was talking about was a bot that calculates your odds of winning based on what you hold in your hand against the other 50 cards in the deck. What the others players say or do has nothing to do with it.

I understand. I'm saying I would never let a bot play for me.

One hand I had pocket Js, hit the set on the flop with the J as the high card. I folded that hand because I was up against a tight player who raised a raise. He had an A high flush and would have wiped me out.

The bot may have called that hand because of the odds totally disregarding how the players on the table were betting.

To answer the original question, no I haven't colluded, but I have been the victim of it.

I suppose that kind of bot, if VERY well written may have a chance at limit poker. No chance in the world at NL though. Which is what I primarily play.

If you let the bot play 12 hours a day at a relatively high limit table you can still make a nice chunk of money.

Poker rooms can detect this kind of activity pretty easily, and then they sieze all your funds and you are blacklisted.

I'd say it's not worth it, for the minor advantage that you receive.

They have poker bots that are quite a bit better than the average player now.
