Collision Light on Hub

Im using Sygate to connect my to machines to the net. I have 2 nics in the server and 1 in the client connected to a regular soho 10mb hub. Im using netbui for my file and print sharing. I've noticed when i transfer files over my lan that the collision light will flash every few seconds. The collision light never comes on if both machines are just surfing the net even if both simaltaneously downloading files from the net. Is this just something to do with netbeui the only reason im using it is for the security. Never had any collisions when using tcp/ip for file and printer sharing. It still works but will this mess up the files somehow, they seem to be ok. Thanks to all who reply

Collisions are part of a hub...not sure why they don't seem to happen with TCP/IP though.

Hub is not address specific every thing goes every where.

That why the switch was invented.

However, for small network it does not make a difference.

You have a good Setup, if your system works OK leave it alone.

Surfing uses much less bandwidth than transferring files locally, and is much slower. Hense fewer collisions. There are collisions, unless you only use one system at a time. Life with a hub. A few computers trasferring huge files at full speed will make that little light nearly constant.
