My rig seems to be freezing a lot. First thought was a bad driver and it was time to clean up so I reformatted the HD and reinstalled 2K. The problem never went away and I have tried varying drivers for the various items I have.
Then, I installed Tropico...great game...I think I lost a week...It was running great. I shut off as many items as possible on the rig just trying to keep it from freezing.
I decided to play with Tropicos settings. I switched from software rendering to hardware rendering on the 3d video. Guess what...moments later, I froze. I have played with it a lot, slowed the card to 2X AGP, increased the aperature size to 256 meg (have 512 installed), even went to the control panel and reduced the hardware acceleration.
Software 3d, great, hardware 3d, freeze.
I am thinking this is a cooling problem. I live north of Denver, it is not as hot as Vegas, but we have no AC and it gets into the 80-90's.
Anyone else experience problems with this card and cooling? Is there a "best" Nvidia driver set I should use? Nothing is overclocked anymore. Any thoughts?
Cheers
Greg
