I have you effectively beat. I signed up for a class and NEVER WENT TO IT ONCE and got a passing grade. The class was based off attendance and, I guess, since I didn't go the first day and he didn't realize it, he could never tell I wasn't there for any other days. Beautiful. My friends hated me for that one.

I missed large chunks of 3 classes:

1. Transportation/Traffic Engineering (Civil Eng) - Missed from the middle of February to the end of April (car wreck - never dropped the class - long story). I showed up for the class before finals. I found out a project was due that day and that our final exam was pushed up 2 days early. He let me turn the project in during the final. The final exam counted for 75% of my grade. I made an A. The people that made B's were pissed.

2. Statistics - After taking so much calculus, statistics seemed to be a joke. I showed up for class on the first day, then each test day. I made an easy A.

3. Circuits (Why a Civil Engineer needs this I will never know). I didn't go for two months. Luckily, I didn't miss a test. I made a B and was happy.

One semester, I made the mistake of taking a 7:30 am Genetics course. There were at least 100 people in the class. After the first week or two I stopped going because I was normally asleep at that time in the morning. After four or five weeks I knew the midterm was coming up but I couldn't find the syllabus. So I called the professor and asked him about the midterm.

He replied " Well Randy, if you came to class you would know"

I was shocked at this because of the number of people in the class and he did not take roll.

I asked: "How can you possibly know when I am not in class?"

He said: "Come to class tomorrow and I will give you a syllabus" and then hung up.

how'd he know?

Maybe the fact that he had to call to find out when the midterm was...

Or maybe he didn't know and it was just a general statement that if he went to class, he'd know when the midterm was because it was discussed in class.

Oh, I don't think I ever had a class that I skipped more often than I went. I was there to learn, not buy a degree.

I did skip every lab for my second programming class because I did them all at home and didn't need help from the TA.

Skipped the last two months of classes, including the final, before I took a year off.

I was depressed though, so I guess that's extenuating circumstances or whatever.

Yeah. If you want straight days.. i've prolly skipped 1 1/2 months. Most total, i've been to classes where I only went in for 1st class, midterm and final.

Went to Econ 102 lecture once and discussion twice.

Ended up with an AB :(

EDIT: I'm not including going to class for the midterms and final.

what's an AB?

A grade (you can probably figure out what it means)

I knew it was a grade, but I've never heard of multiple letter grades. Unless you meant a B?

Between A and B.

It's the annoying grade system some states use to screw you out of a better GPA. I always end up with the higher end of the grade (say a 91 for an AB) and get screwed out of the 4.0.

I think I haven't skipped any classes in about 2 years.

Otherwise the most in a row is proably only 2.

I actually like it better than the traditional grading system with +'s and -'s. It's nice to just have one intersection between whole letter grades rather than two.

Back in 1995, I went to my Theories of Persuasion class 3 times the semester. My advisor was the professor and I worked full time so he knew what was up.

I got a C or B in that class.
