College Students: Ever take a course online?

Im thinking of taking 1 course online thru my college.

Has anyone ever taken courses online, how much involved do i have to get

Depends on the course and what the teacher expects. I took an english class online and it was great. Turned in work every 2 weeks and got a B since my final report was late.

I took Personal Wellness (basically college PE) online. Didn't spend a lot of time on it and got an A.

Yah I'm interested in what anyone who took an online course has to say I intend to take calc 3 over the summer online.

As long as you have the discipline to turn your assignments in on time, online courses are great. I wish the school I was going to now offered it.

I love taking online courses. I would never take an online math course though.

i took psych 101 online at cal poly. it was the first time they offered it online, it had it bugs though sometimes you could access the course videos and such. but it's soo much better now.

like we have this insect class that they teach online and the people online get like a week to take the test and the test are untimed, so technically you can look up the answers. at least that's what it was last i heard, dont know if they changed it.

I took 'Computer Architecture and Design' online this past semester. I really liked it, I could watch the lectures when ever I wanted and just had to remember to do the weekly assignment.

Took an EE class this past quarter, a VLSI design course. The way it was structured was that the classes was recorded and then broadcasted over the internet. You bascially compete with the normal students in class, and graded against them. It was a MS course and it was tough as hell ... a few drawbacks sometimes, it hard to see what the hell the prof. is doing and you can't ask questions. The other thing would be office hours, it's non-existence.

If the class it's not that intensive and it's an equivalent class then I would think it's not a bad idea.

Yeah Ive taken two online classes and I didn't really like it.

I had a problem with remembering to actually log in and check stuff the professor posted, etc...

Still got a B and a A in the two classes, but I doubt I would do it again.

My brother-in-law was taking those types of courses at Stanford... I think they had them on tape back then. He would always fall asleep on the couch

Took a business programming course, a forestry course, a country music course, and programmed countless ones at NAU (northern arizona university)...all went ohk...most were a bit harder because they tested on such specific material in the reading....

I have taken three classes online (psy101, eng 101, 102). As long as you can pace yourself for the term papers and keep involved in the class forum discussions it is easy. I aced all three classes so I would consider it again.

Online courses are awesome for lower classes where classroom experience doesn't change much. But for more advanced classes, you may miss out on some of the good stuff.

The best part about online courses is that you can tack one on to an already full schedule and always find time to complete the work, thus freeing up some space down the road for those classes that are harder to get.
