water shoes are considered slippers, arent they? Slippers are any low shoe that can be slipped on or off.

When I hear slippers I think bunny slippers. I imagine two big wet stuffed animals around your feet probably doesn't feel all that natural when taking a shower.

But yes, definitely wear flip-flops or some sort of rubber sandals.

Slippers = soft feather like bunny slippers

Flip flops is the correct term or thongs (I think?)

both. Athlete's foot runs rampant in college showers.

F'sho. I wore flip flops religiously in the bathroom during my college orientation and I still came out of there with some sort of itchy thing behind my ears.

You won't contract anything serious from the showers, but it's just disgusting to think about not wearing sandals.

fork out the dough and rent an apartment with your own BR

otherwise, duct tape some plastic baggies around your feet at the ankles :D

I had a pair Nike soccer sandals (flip-flops) my freshman year that I would wear in the showers, hallways, dorm room, and outdoors. I'm in my senior year now and still wear them, they're pretty durable.

Yeah, wear slippers while in the shower. I've heard horror stories. However, I went without slippers throughout 4 years of college and never had a problem. I don't think I'd take the chance again though...

Of course the flipside is that I never once skipped out on wearing sandals in the shower and somehow I managed to get athlete's foot late into my senior year.

if you're really scared about contracting athlete's foot, dip your feet in a water/bleach solution for a few seconds after your shower. That will kill the fungus before it starts growing on you.

So wash some water on them when you're getting out -- and take them off before getting in your room.

What kind of college let you in? You can't figure how to get back to your room with wet shoes!? ;)

Another bit of advice for you college goers in showers:

If anyone ever steals your clothes while in the shower, you can use the curtain to cover your privates.

<== Had clothes taken twice and left a sock by friends waiting in my room with a camera as a gag. :)

Trust me, wear the flip flops until you dry your feet and put socks on. I always did that when I took showers at the hockey rink, and I've seen guys who didn't get athlete's foot

Definitely. Athlete's foot is bad enough, but something like a plantar's wart... ick. Gross.
