College Rumor Demystifying Thread

beer

Lifer
Well I went back home this weekend and talked to some college-bound seniors from my city (one of my friends is still a senior there). I'm amazed at such IGNORANCE that they have....as if college is going to be some sort of paradise partying fvckfest that's near utopia. So, I decided to start this thread to maybe crush some hopes of college-bound people on this board.

1) unless you are an elementary ed major, most of your classes will be guys. if you are in CS or engineering (with the exception of chemical or biomedical) you will have the same odds of getting laid with a chick in your class as the odds of Super Bowl XXXVIII being Dallas vs. Houston.

2) which brings me to the next point. Yes, you will party a lot. Yes, you will get more drunk than you ever have before in your entire life. No, every party you go to will not get you laid. Most of the frat parties won't let you in if you are a guy and not in that frat, and since frats have all the money, the girls will outnumber the guys 3:1 there and every other party on campus will be 1:3. Of course, if you are in any sort of real major then your pledge semester will fvck your grades over anyways. So it's a catch 22 if you're actually in college to learn. Seriously, if you go to a party, and hook up with some girl easily...how many guys have been before you? Just think about that.

3) The girls are the same as they were in high school. There is no such thing as a 'college girl.' They act the same way they did in high school. It seems that most of the guys I know have matured slightly, but the bitches are still bitches and the sluts are still sluts.

I'm done venting. Add your omments here.

i don't agree with no.1.... i would have to say that there are lots of other majors with girls, like business, communications, psychology, etc, etc ,etc. but yea, don't go into CS for the girls... you might be a little disappointed 😛

theres very few majors where you'll have a hard time finding women... mostly a couple of engineering ones.

Engineering, math and physics. Don't expect girls there. Except maybe biomedical engineering.

(I haven't met ANY female physics majors yet.)

Odds increase a bit with chemistry, biochem and biology.

If you're looking for girls, non-science is the way to go.

Great. Now he tells me... 🙁 As I told someone earlier, "I've been staring at code for hours" is not a good pickup line.

Amen to that. Though personally I've found that the harder the class, the more satisfying the "study breaks" can be.

And frats are nice, you just have to find one that's right for you, aka if you are pre-med, pledge one that has a lot of pre-meds and they'll go easy on you (maybe). Otherwise, just make a lot of greek friends and ask them to put you on the list. Or arive with a bunch of hot girls.

I transferred from (Univeristy, major) GAtech, CS --> Ohio State, Business. WOW. It is like I am in heaven in my business classes😛

How about EE/ME?

Oh wait, I can attest!

I have a 600 person class containing every single freshman 2nd semester EE. MAYBE 15 cute girls out of maybe 100 total.

when the hell did people start calling freshmen "frosh?" its only been in the past year.

Well, you're obviously still sore from going to the wrong parties at frosh week. 😀

Spring rush, for the most part, sucks.

And might I add, spring pledges get their ass kicked ten times worse than the fall pledges got it.

What school do you go to, because they're all different. At my school frats are basically a joke, and if they didn't let in guys then no girls would go either (thus they would make no $$$ ;-). There are plenty of women in the sciences, especially biology, chemistry, molecular biology and, of course, nursing (though I won't dispute the low #'s of women in CS). I'd say that the ratios of male:female is about equal in every other curriculum here, with the exception of ed and pscychology where there are even more women.

Of course my perspective is rather scewed because I go to Eau Claire, Wi where the guy/girl ratio is 1:3.

I will say, however, in my five years at college (last one **sniff**) I've noticed girls certainly mature with age. Sure, the freshman and the HS seniors won't be much different until, that is, they all break off that futile long distance relationship they have with their HS sweetheart.

eh, in my experience, there are tons of girls in chemistry, biochem, and biology. dunno, maybe we just have more girls at my school than yours 😛

longer than that. I remember hearing it used at the Duke + Harvard info sessions when I went 4 - 5 years ago.

I can't comment for the upper div. In the lower div courses, it's about half guys and half girls. So to science-based standards, yeah that's a lot.

When I was a business major...wow there were lots. Yum 🙂

Oh yeah, ISE has more girls than most other engineering as well.

Pics?! :Q

For me it was between UCSD vs USC....damn...now I'm starting to wonder whether I made the right choice..😱 :Q
