College Rankings

So my kid wants to attend a few obscure colleges in the middle of nowhere. I would like to research something about these institutions of, (allegedly), higher learning.
Where can I get the real deal on these places?

They might be listed on US News's rankings. You'll have to pay a little, though. The ratings are pretty biased toward the better-known schools, though, so they probably won't claim those colleges are any good (unless they actually are well known and you just don't know about them).

Rankings. take them with a huge piece of rock salt.

You should really call each school and talk to someone there, sometimes you can learn a lot by doing just that (how they treat you, questions they answer, how they answer, etc.)
