So after looking at my college brochure I figured the school's plan is pretty bad. Looks like if I sneeze they'll only cover 80% of it. That doesn't bother me SO much, what does bother me is prescription. I would pay over $4k in prescription if I didn't have insurance through the state/parents. Now obviously this plan isn't enough but it's the freaken ONLY plan the school has. What about my options? How do I get on prescription drug plans? Are they very espensive like freaken health plans? BTW I have Crohn's and my wife has to roll off of her parent's plan by fall of next year, so we have to plan for that. I know MA is rolling out some form of comprehensive plan by July 1st next year but that's for employers, do schools count?

I pay $50 a month

$30 doctor visits (2 year)

and it also pays for prescription pills, like 20-30 bucks

downsize?
$2,000 deductible (no deductibe for office visits or pills)

Maximum out of pocket? $5,000

Max coverage is 5 mill

if u want this tell me and ill tell u how to get it.

I got it over the student plan because 80k student plan will not cover squat if I get in a serious car accident. My insurance is basically for major major emergency or if I get the cold and I just want meds.

Yeah, many student plans don't have the greatest coverage...largely, I'm guessing, because they cover a young population who generally doesn't need it most of the time. The other grad students in my program have all recommended that everyone get some sort of individual plan as supplementary coverage.

Not sure how to get on prescription drug plans, but you could always something like ehealthinsurance.com or kaiser.

Yeah I need to have a colonoscopy done every year. I know the anesthesia for that alone is over $700 bucks.

Yeah I forgot to mention I have Crohn's.

Until now, I had absolutely no idea what Crohn's was.

A little OT but:
If your in college, can you still be on your parent(s) medical plans?

No I married a couple of months ago. Come time to renew the plan we won't be part of it.

I would strongly recommend looking for a different plan - college plans are made for the average college student, who despite abusing his/her body doesn't get sick very often/seriously.

Get a job that offers health insurance? Go to school part time? That is how I had to do it. Seems logical if you want to do it yourself.
