I'm going to be transferring from my 2 year tech school to a university next year. I'm 19 live with my parents and will have my associates done in the spring. I have found two options that look good for me. I like working with computers a lot, not a big fan or programing though. I am terrible at math, so computer science isn't the best option for me.

I was looking at Metropolitan State University in Minneapolis, which I'd be able to continue living where I am now, it'd be a lot nicer and I wouldn't have to pay to move anywhere, could keep my current job and so on. It'd be for a BS in MIS.

Other option I was possibly looking at was a CIS or MIS degree from Minnesota State University Moorhead. This would be about a 3 and a half hour drive from Minneapolis, I'd have to live in a dorm or get an apartment and new job up there.

If anyone has gone to either schools and has recommendations, or comments on reputation of the schools let me know what you think. First option sounds better to me, but if Moorhead State would have a much better reputation or look a lot better on the resume when it comes to getting a job, I'd go that route if needed. I've looked into the U of M, decided not to go that route for various reasons.

Summary:Live where I am now and goto Metropolitan State,
or move to Moorhead for a couple years and goto Moorhead State.

Anyways suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I don't think many credits will transfer compared to the too schools I listed, would rather not goto that big of a school, and I'd have to take a lot of math, I'm terrible with math, I'm worried it kill me off and I'd end up dropping out because of it. If there's particular reason I should reconsider. I like smaller class sizes as well that the two schools I listed would offer.

Go into UNIX system administration or database administration. Not much programming and a heck of fun.

Moorhead is a good school for teachers. An MIS degree is'nt going to require much real math beyond Algebra. I don't place probability and accounting in with real math (my opinion, hold the flames). Still, any BS degree will require more math than a BA degree.

I would have hoped the tech school (MTI?)you are attending would have given you confidence and good study habits but, I understand the desire for smaller class sizes. I guess I would ask which is more important, class size or a degree from a major University?
