college loan question

hey all...im kind of in a shitty position because the people at the FAFSA office are being a pain in the ass, and i cannot register until i pay about 4000 bucks in encumbrance charges, which i don't have in my savings. i dont want to ask my parents (i dont even think they have anything to give) and fafsa wont give me money yet, so i want to take out a loan. where would i go about doing this and how fast could i get the money? once FAFSA starts paying me they'll refund it but i kind of need the money now.

WTH are encumbrance charges? Did you not fill out your forms correctly/on-time?

If you need to take out a loan... I'm afraid your interest rates will suck. Wachovia/Citi/BofA/etc. are places to start comparing rates...

A normal student loan wouldn't work in this case unless it disburses directly to you rather than the school.
