does anybody know if my loans that were consolidated into sallie mae are elligble after 10 yrs? or do i have to consolidate it into something else. I do know that i've worked for a non-profit hospital for the last 8 years, but I guess repayment doesnt count until after 2007. If i have to reconsolidate, forget it - my loan rate is @ 1.9% and I don't want to risk changing my rate and then have the program taken away before 10 years are up

I got lost in all the mumbo jumbo

i know u can definitely do it with federal subsidized loan. you don't have to consolidate, just have it change the payment plan into income base repayment plan.

for the amount they forgive, you will need to pay taxes on it.

Student loans forgiven under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program are not subject to income tax.
