porn censored or not?

waiting for my nephew to finish test at the library. guy next to me is watching porn.

is this okay or not? I typed in a porn site and whoa no censore.
 
If you had gone to the same college I did you could have watched my girlfriend Shawna and I get busy in the SW corner of the 5th Floor Government Documents section.
 
Librarians are some of the biggest anti-censorship champions of free flowing information we have. They look at their role in our society as catalogers of all knowledge with a duty to make it as easily accessible to the public as possible. Why on Earth do you think they would censor the Internet for adults trying to get an education?

city libraries are censored so I assume the school library is the same.
What research can you do in porn ,but hey if its not censored its all good. I learned something today.

Its a college. How would all the freshman in the dorms look at porn if they blocked it!?

Oh goodness, the things that pass for research in the humanities these days! 😀
 
It's not blocked on most college campuses. However, he'd likely get told to stop or leave if caught by staff.
 
The policies for blocking porn also block a lot of things that students would need for biology research.
 
Colleges generally don't block porn, but it is probably against their rules. Get up and find a librarian. They will deal with it.

Federal law requires public libraries that receive any federal funding to censor the web. Most libraries that can afford to go without federal funds will not put the censoring software on them.
