College Grading

I'm confused on the difference between a C and a D. I was looking thru my school's course schedule and they don't specify what percentage is an A,B,C,D,or F; they only give out the grade point averages for each. So what are the percentage points for a C and D ?? I'm wondering because I'm hoping to get a C in my class and right now I have a 71.
I'm thinking 70-74 = D and 75 - 79 = C.

At my school, 60-69=d, 70-79=c, 80-89=b, 90-100=a. GPA wise, a=4, b=3, c=2, d=1 We don't have any things like a-, a+, etc.

If it's not mentioned in the syllabus, then a C is 70 - 80. D is 60-70. Some profs define their own numerical grades for letter grades. I have had classes where 85 or above was an A, 75 or above B, and so on.

Lucky bastard....

94-100 A 4.0
92-93 A- 3.66
89-91 B+ 3.33
84-88 B 3.0
82-83 B- 2.66
79-81 C+ 2.33
74-78 C 2.0
70-73 C- 1.66
68-69 D+ 1.33
65-67 D 1.0
63-64 D- .66
>62 F 0

In my calculus II class last semester, the prof gave us all a C if we had an average of 50%.!! haha. That was the hardest calc class I"ve taken. too much proofs.......calc III was a breeze though........

That's odd... Here it's:

A+ > 95%
85 <= A < 95
80 <= A- < 85
and then it goes down to F < 50% (not 100% sure of all of the in between numbers)

It may seem like an easy scale, but profs scale the grades a LOT. It's a very rare occurrance for someone to get over 95%, with the bulk of the class averaging around 75% (B to B+ territory)

On tests, the first 50% are gimme marks; so long as you went to class you should get them. The next 30% are fairly tough, but if you did your homework, you should be able to get most, if not all of them... The last 20% are hella difficult. Most people can only pick up 1 or 2 marks out of 5 on these questions. They're there only to separate the brainers from the rest of the people.
