College football has become more about trying to beat a computer than to beat your opponents. Teams are forced to keep in their starters, run up the scores, and demoralize the other teams just to keep from being leapfrogged in the BCS rankings by a team that they may have already beaten (i.e. Florida State/Miami)

I think it's funny that college football does have a playoff system.....for every division other than Div 1A. I highly doubt a playoff system will come into effect in Div 1A because the bowls simply generate too much money for the NCAA, conferences, and schools which would be ridiculous to turn down. I think the best solution for a playoff system would be one in which the bowls and playoffs could co-exist. Not only would most everyone be happy, it would extend the college football season :)

I agree, we do need a playoff system. Sometimes running up the score is just unsportsman like conduct to just get a good BCS rating. Some college footbal teams are not the kind of teams that are very strong on offense (but very good at defense), or teams that win by running the ball rather than passing it. Even if they win the game by a touchdown or two (with their ability to defend themselves or run), this team will never be number 1 because they are just not scoring enough points to wow the computer.

if there is a playoff system how many teams get to go? and how is it decided which teams go? a whole month of playoffs will only get you 16 teams. its inoperable in college football because the teams simply don't have the stamina. plus a whole lot more teams get to play in the post season this way. and part of the fun of college football is arguing who should be on top. this whole BCS thing is dumb because its not a series. no team other than those in the champion bowl can win. what if there are 3 undefeated teams? i'd rather argue it out.

I'm with ElFenix...Would take an aweful long time. Plus, the big bowl games have nice tradition behind them. I'm an Ohio State fan and while i may not have a chance at a national title every year there is still the Rose Bowl. A playoff system will still have to decide what teams get to go. If 16 teams go and you are 17 you are going to run up the score and do whatever it takes. NCAA Basketball uses a human selection commitee but every year people talk about being slighted it's never going to be perfect.

No, College football needs to end after the last regular season game and they need to throw away ranking them...

Then we can get back to watching the real games... NFL.

There's only ONE bowl game. That's Super Bowl baby!

"the pampers diaper bowl, the corn flakes bowl, the just another annoying college game gowl......etc.." hehehehehe

They don't even have a decent name for the championship bowl?

I'd rather watch a college football game than an NFL game because the college game is where the game actually means something to the players. They're playing for pride and for their school and not just a weekly paycheck. I know that not all NFL players are like that, but sometimes it seems that way. Besides, college football and NFL can fill up a weekend.....1 college game on Thursday, a whole day full on Sat, NFL on Sun, and MNF on Monday night.....doesn't get much better than that :)
