Wow, worst offensive call ... ever? I'm fairly certain the clock hit 0 before the spike. Talk about the worst way to end a game. Get a legit shot at knotting it up after 2 great plays and then blow it with absolute stupidity.

Odd ending to the Rose Bowl with that spike, I would have liked to see one more play... oh well, :02 is not much time to get off a spike.

If the clock starts on the snap, spike it, but you wouldn't do that anyway. If the clock starts once the ball is readied, you have no chance.

Yeah, what a stupid way to end the game...but still an entertaining one no matter what. Can't expect every bowl game to go to 3OT today :p

Wilson always looks stoned... maybe he was a little too relaxed.

The announcers said "I don't think they have enough to spike it.", then he spikes it.

This. It takes a second just to realize the refs have readied the ball. Too little time, the ref is watching the official spot the ball and then winds the clock on some signal from him.. enough subjectivity there to lose at least a second in the spot/start/realization of clock starting .. terrible call by Wisc. Gotta have the play ready and called before you even line up.

Badgers had so many stupid mistakes...that fumble that somehow didn't go out of bounds. The terrible wasting of timeouts at the beginning of the 2nd half. Then the decision to try and spike it hone they have no way to get it off.

Yep. A shame, I thought Wisconsin had this one coming. Looking at the replay it looks like Wilson was waiting for the ump to clear the defensive line, but the ref started the clock before he did. 0.5-1s failed assumption.

You know one of the arguments against a playoff is that the BCS folks say it would cheapen the non-playoff bowl games. It would make them meaningless.

I'm just going to go out on a limb and state flat out that if the Rose and Fiesta had been part of a college football playoff there would have been a hell of a lot more conversation in this thread. I think there may be more activity in the Tebow and NFL Week 17 thread today than in this one. Sad really, especially considering that the game on right now features the #3 and #4 teams.

Stanford never really tried for the TD there, entrusting the game to a freshman kicker. Huge psychological let down going into OT.

David Shaw is a fucking retard. I couldn't believe it when they didn't call a timeout with 40 seconds to go to push the ball further down the field. Your kicker has only kicked 17 field goals in his career. What are you thinking?

I love football but think it's hilarious that guys can go out there and beat the shit out of each other for a few hours and then get screwed because some scrawny guy who doesn't even get hit can't kick the ball straight.

Terribly unimaginative play calling when you have the supposed best QB in a generation.

Explosive Cowboys don't think they can score from half a yard out?

Imagine if Luck had a guy like Blackmon to throw to. It wouldn't even be fair.

OK, nite all I can finally go to bed!

yeah, why did cowboys kick the FG to win it instead of getting a td from the 1/2 yard line? It was 2nd and goal!

Their kicker is all-conference this year and the team captain I believe. You should trust him to kick an extra point with the ball in the middle of the field. I agree though, try to score a TD on first down at least.
