Monk3y - if the two best teams are in the same conference, what difference does it make?

I don't think you are accurately judging if they are in fact the two best in the nation when they are from the same conference.

Teams only play 4 non conference games, that makes 8 between LSU and Alabama. To me that isn't enough to extrapolate the two best in the nation.

Similar situation happened with Ohio State (#1 at the time) and Michigan(#2) in 2006. People wanted both of them in the National Championship game. Neither team ended up winning their respective bowl game that year. It would have been a sham to have them compete for the national championship.

If Bama wins out, stays pretty healthy, and kicks the shit out of their bowl opponent, while LSU does the same to get the National Championship, Bama should be awarded #2.

I hope Alabama's kicker is on the lookout for that guy who poisoned Auburn's tree last year.

I freely admit to being an SEC homer but think it would be a sham if they let two SEC schools play each other in the national championship. Granted, the whole playoff-less system is a sham so maybe this could just be another straw on the BCS camel's back.

You guys need to realize that all 3 QB's are not NFL caliber but at least half the total players on defense are. This is why both teams were horrible on offense.

Screw this game, I'm reading on another site that there were two Bama coeds fondling each other and was caught on camera during a break. Who's got the video?

This weekend, every game in the Big10, Big12, ACC and PAC was better than this game.

Only if you don't know football and can't appreciate defense.
Defensive games are a bore.
This is why the NFL is going to great lengths to protect QBs and receivers.
No one wants to watch a game with 20 punts.

I can see how some may feel that way but I love watching defenses make offenses look silly.

What about the NCG?

Possible, but not likely at all. Just imagine if you're LSU - you beat bama at their field, but then lose to them on a neutral field, so they get the NC?

I think Oregon would have a better argument for a rematch (assuming they win out) as their loss to LSU was on a neutral field. I'm guessing it's Stanford or Okie light vs. LSU.

I watched this game as I was downing some brews. Was pretty great neck and neck game. When it is a blow out, no one cares. Even when my team is winning by a complete blowout it gets boring. Close games (within a touchdown and a field goal in either direction) are my favorite. So this one was borderline on getting boring but both teams played so well.

I'm not a BCS wonk, but if Oregon beats Stanfurd and OU beats Okla. State, then Alabama can rematch LSU if they both run out.

Not that it's most deserved, but Alabama does have a preferred track to the title game if Stanford and OSU both lose.

It's sad to see how much Gary Crowton screwed up our QBs. Kragthorpe has J Lee playing better (up until Bama) but he can only do so much in a years time
