What is a good network adapter for a 100 mbps ethernet system?

all this stuff has been standardized.

I'd go with either a Linksys, Netgear, or D-Link. I heard these three work fine and won't hurt your pocket.
I'm using Netgear FA311. I get better ping times of about 5 ms on the same network than my roommate who is using a Linksys ver 2.1 though (current version is 4.1).
