why is it all over tv, every channel, if they could only show as many games on espn / espn 2 , other sport channels (no i dont have direct tv or sat) and the style of play, the guy is at half court for 15 secs before making a play. is it me or is defense much tighter in college bball or the players just suck?

It's because the players actually care about the game, and they care about actually playing defense. All most pros care about these days is making money and padding their stats on offense.

What the hell are you trying to say?

I understand "why is it all over tv"...and the last question., but "if they could only show as many games on espn / espn 2 , other sport channels (no i dont have direct tv or sat) and the style of play, the guy is at half court for 15 secs before making a play." <- that didn't make any sense.

And no, the players don't suck, its just that college basketball isn't about one on one play like the NBA often is. It is more about team play.

i think the same way...that college players care...etc.

but then again, aren't a lot of them just showcasing themselves for the NBA/NFL?
edit: the ones who are good, i love watching the blue-collar guys of ncaa.

zone defenses
they allow zone defense in the pros as well and its not like this

i would say, the style of play is due to the 30s shot clock. i think its too long. the offenses are more patient, which might come off as better d, but its not necessarily.

NBA is only really worth watching during the playoffs. For regular season basketball, college is a far superior product. There is a much greater emphasis on teamwork and good, fundamental basketball. The defense is a lot tougher, and you don't see the slam dunk, streetball-style of play that plagues the NBA.

95% of college players (I pulled that number out of my ass but it is high) are never going to get to the next level and are just playing to get their education for free.

There are several reasons plays take longer:

1) 35 second shot clock allows more time to run a play (vs 24 seconds in pros)
2) In college they play this thing called defense, most pro teams could care less and are filled with a bunch of thugs who want every play to be a one on one matchup.
3) The coaches actually have the control and respect of their players and can get them to run the offense and defense the way they say.

There are more but I am sick of typing now.
