I have a problem with foreign (primarily Asian) grad school students teaching lab/seminars.
Oftentimes, they can't speak the friggin' language! Shows you how USELESS the TOEFL exam is!

A man of my own beliefs. I had two FOB's as my chem TA's, and I couldn't understand a word they said, and there slides were even poor English.
No, I meant maximum.Originally posted by: notfred
I don't think I can say "yes" to this, but "no" to AA without being a hypocrite, can I?
Edit: I was thinking the OP meant a maximum number of international students, but apparently he means a minumum number, so I guess my statement doesn't count.

No, their prime funding comes from the local/federal governments to instruct local people / people from the country who pay to fund these institutions. I don't care if Int'l students pay 2, or even 3 times more than local students, local students support the institution.

as much as I hate to admit it, it's true. All the math tutors at my community college's math lab spoke very poor English. Genius's at math, but if you can't understand them it's hard to learn.Originally posted by: dr150

That's because no one else wants to teach them. The FOBs do it because they're poor as hell and they just immigrated here with no financial support from the family.
