ok admissions letters should be coming in the next 2 weeks or so and i've heard everyone I know state their opinions on my chances to get into my two top schools and basically there all bullshit so i'm hopin there might be someone here with some insight.

my two schools are

1) Notre Dame
2) Boston College

I scored a 1410 on my sats. Yes I know i may seem like some prententious nerd coming here and asking when I have a score like that but my school grades aren't that high. My average is about 90 unweighted and I'm ranked 30 out of about 100 students. It seems that ranking is a huuuuuge part of both of these schools and this is what i'm worried about. I'm pretty well rounded, 1 varsity sport, heavy music involvment, and some awards (ap scolar thing). Also my senior mid year report showed an 88 avg for the first qtr and 83 for the second.

Um also I kinda feel stupid for coming here and asking this cause it may seem selfish and stuff but I'm just bored and sick of waiting so if you don't want to reply you don't have to.

That'd be like 4 A's and 2 B average here, that's not bad. That's a 3.6666 or whatever.

i THINK you'll get into ND... i had a friend get into ND and i know she begged to have some of her grades from high school changed...

for some reason ND doesn't seem that elite to me. depends on your major though.

Which varsity sport?

Soccer
Bleh, practically all the schools around here, if you try out, you make the Varsity Soccer team due to the lack of interested. This girl in my math class never played Soccer before and made the Girls Varsity team just because she was a Senior..

In my school soccers pretty competitive and I was ok at it. Freshman and Sophmores usually don't make the team. I was on it in 10th 11th and 12th.

Come to Notre Dame with me, I got in with Early Action. 1440 SAT, 94 avg (Prob top 1-3% in my class), varsity football and track, a few academic awards, and no music at all. I'd say you have a decent chance of getting into ND and a better chance of getting into BC. I got in there Early Action as well, but I didn't like it when I visited it nearly as much as I like ND.

Just curious, what major are you planning on taking if you get in? I'm going to take EG 101 and 102 and then decide what kind of engineering I want to take. Right now I'm leaning towards Aerospace, but that could change. I like how you don't declare your major there until your second year, but instead take a general engineering class your first two semesters before getting more specific your final three years. Also, I like how they allow drinking in all the dorms regardless of your age. I went up last month for an engineering open house and stayed in a dorm, and every room had empty beer cans stacked up covering the windows. They were all pissed off too that the administration was cracking down and wouldn't let hard liquor in the dorms anymore, just beer. Ah, what a shame. And, surprisingly, a lot of the girls that were there weren't bad looking. Of course, the CE major I was staying with told me that 80% of all those girls switch to the business school after their first semester, so get to know them first semester. Anyways, hope to see you there!

I'm planning to go into some type of business, I'm still pretty undecided though. Congrats on gettin in btw. Oh yeah I forgot my Trump Card for notre dame. My uncle went there and he wrote me a reccomendation letter. Yeah I don't think its possible to go visit ND and not fall in love. I'm very irish and it was like the motherland for me. Everything was perfect. Right now I just wanna know so bad. Also I have 2 friends there already on lacrosse scholarships and another going next year on a lacrosse scholarship. Also I'll be waiting for the girls at the business school, I got all my pickup lines planned out already. "Need help managing your office?"

Bah, business?!? Everyone I talked to said that the business school was a joke. They all go out partying every day of the week, hardly do any work, and yet they still get paid a lot once they graduate... you know, on second thought, that doesn't sound half bad. :p Well, everything but that pickup line.

granted i have only ever taken one business course (intro to marketing, just for fun), most people i have talked to (marketing prof, business people) recommend majoring in something else if you plan to get an MBA, because the material will be redundant.

But see, while most people think business = boring I think business = easy money. You'd have to see how lazy I am to understand. Lazy isn't even a good enough word. But about my pickup line. Ever since "Hey I play guitar" got me some ass, I figure anything works if they're drunk enough.

Hey, from my experience, drinking seems to be an integral part of the college experience there, so it looks like we're in luck :D.

I go to Babson College...one of the biggest all-business schools that you can get. Business is not boring at all, but marketing specifically is VERY repetitive. Business is the way to go in any career, though, because everything you can ever possibly imagine is based on business and business strategy. I learned this only through my parents' encouragement to attend Babson...business meant nothing to me in high school. I can't imagine my life without all of this valuable knowledge now, though.

You can really learn a lot through business school. It will expand your horizons in every aspect of future career plans...this coming from someone who loves liberal arts and wanted to be a psychologist back in high school.

Don't worry. You're overestimating the admissions standards of those schools. Their average test scores are much lower than what you have, and their average GPA maybe a tad higher, but not much.

I'd say your fine. Good luck!

d00d, i got a 1270 and got into an ivy league. don't worry, you'll get in.

which one, cornell I'm guessing from the post above this one. I applied there as well but I don't think its a good fit for me. I don't know, I'm gonna have to go check it out.
