Just got a letter from an Attorneys office stating that I owe a hospital ~$144

This hospital, I have only been there once to visit my wifes PC Doctor and this was waaaay over a year ago. I have never gotten a payment notice and I have always had health insurance coverage.

Any advice? I plan on calling the Attorneys office tomorrow morning but I feel this is going to be grim.

the letter didn't have any details? did it say when the service was rendered? when it was billed?

Call and tell them to submit to you a copy of the hospital's information. Least they can do, then submit it to your medical company.

Nope but it did have a "file code" and "request code".

Yeah, do *not* call the attorney, call the hospital, tell them you never received the bill--what is this about? If they say it's too late, but you get the amount anyway, either send them the money or call your insurance to find out what they know. But if you send the money to the hospital, it eliminates the attorney and may stay off your credit report.

Only big issue I see is that I was with another company when I visited this doctor so my insurance was with BCBS but different contract.

Also, I just checked my credit report and I do not have any hits on it so that is all good.
