Collectibles Question: Uncashed Seattle Slew Preakness Tix

My parents went to the Preakness in 1977 and each placed a small bet on Seattle Slew (the eventual triple crown winner that year). After the race, the line at the betting window was just too long, so they took their tickets and went home.

The tickets are now at my house, and they've still never been cashed out. Apparently, uncashed triple crown tickets (Seattle Slew did win the TC that year) can be quite valuable (in fact, an uncashed Preakness ticket for Smarty Jones went for $167 on eBay last week, and he hasn't even won yet).

My question: where can my parents take the tickets to be appraised? Would a baseball card dealer be able to accurately gauge their worth?

Put up an eBay auction with a reserve at like 10,000,000....see how high it goes. ;)

You'd have to take it to a sports memorbilia dealer and have them appraise it.
I'd imagine it would be worth a fair amount of money actually.

But have a pro do it and dont just "put it on ebay"
