Even though there is snow outside my window, we have already had some hot days and I have been using the car air conditioning. One of my cars is a 6 year old car with R134a. Normally on a hot 95 degree day, I can only get a 30 degree drop on my vent temperature in the car, meaning (65 degree air coming out of the vent). Yes, the temperature will come down as the car cools off, but I’m wanting to know of other ways to stay cool. I often need to dress in a suit and tie and cannot arrive all sweaty. Besides the below, do you have any other tips for staying cool on a hot day in your car?

Here are a few I have found.

Make sure your refrigerant is at the correct level.
Make sure your condenser is free of leaves and bugs and the fins are not bent.
Tint the glass.
Use a windshield sun shield when parked.
Make sure your door/window weather-strips are in place and flexible to prevent hot outside air from coming in.
If a large car, place as many boxes of clothes, paper towels, etc. in vehicle (smaller areas are easier and quicker to cool than large areas).

What other tips do you have for staying cool in your car?

I had trouble with my ac not blowing cold air and all I had to do was recharge it and was good to go. Just stop at any auto zone and they can help.

Also overcharging can cause issues.. I suggest taking your car to a real auto a/c place.. Don't go buy a can refrigerant and do it yourself. Even with a full gauge set I've still had better luck with the real a/c places.

50 percent tint on windshield. Legal in most states and lets you put a brow on top of it masking the fact that the windshield is tinted at all. With tinted side windows you have full 360 UV protection and less overall light entering the car.

I may or may not have put a little extra refrigerant in my g35X so its colder than a meat locker....
