The men spotted an animal carrier off to the side of the road and it looked like it had been there for quite some time.

When they got closer, they noticed the top of the carrier had been chewed. Something inside was desperately trying to get out.

They quickly unlocked the carrier and were shocked to find that an emaciated dog was caged inside. The inside of the crate was covered in waste. Once they finally lured her out, she was hunched over from being stuck inside a small space for so long.

The men brought her some dog food, and she excitedly woofed it down.

The men briefly left her and came back with a truck to tote her away from this sad scene.

Yet, as soon as she got inside the car, she showed her gratitude. They named her Charlie Bravo, or CB for short.

When they got her home, they gave her and both and noticed something shocking. They had to get her professional help.

CB’s next stop was a visit to the vet. She had nails that were so long they had grown backwards into her paws. She was having a hard time walking and everyone was concerned.

As vets dressed the sores that had developed from being confined for so long, they estimated that CB was about eight months old when she was found. But no one knows exactly how long she was trapped in that box.

Bret thinks that it was a considerable amount of time considering that CB’s paws, which are actually white, were stained dark from all the filth she had been lying in.

Bret wasn’t initially planning on keeping CB, but after nursing her back to health, he couldn’t part with her.

Can you blame him?

CB is now safe in a loving home.

When CB’s story hit the internet via a Facebook page, the family received donations that helped pay for her medical bills.

The donations exceeded the costs of CB's vet bills, so the Winingars plan on donating the leftover funds to local animal shelter.

Being that the family currently has four rescue dogs living under their roof, they are also thinking about setting up their own.

It would be named “Charlie’s Angels.”

I can't feel sympathy for domestic animals anymore. I really wish I could at some point, but there are just too many dispicable humans - if I did feel sympathy I would drown myself in it from the shit I see daily. All because some miserable fucks don't get their pets neutered... Then they have a batch of 5+ dogs/cats and they dump them off somewhere.

The number of dogs and cats we have found rummaging through our trash... Has been pretty high. We do our best to take care of those and take them to a shelter. We just had 3 cats show up last week with some type of disease in the eyes.

The cost of a vet/medication doesn't help either. Those companies can go screw themselves as well with how much profit is made off simply heartguard/fleas/rabies monthly vacs/pills. $200+ for a box of 12 pills? Plus a vet visit For a prescription for a fucking house animal? You gotta be shitting me. Excuse me while I go buy some heavy shit for a horse that sure as hell doesn't require a "prescription" just because it's not a domestic animal. Such a joke.

We have our 2 dogs that we take damn good care of. It's just a shame no one else can take care of their own.

Why is the thread title about the idiot who abandoned the dog and not the heroes who rescued it? Priorities, man. That's a pretty awesome story.

I don't know what happened here, how someone could lock this dog in a small cage to be tortured to death. That's much worse than simply abandoning her and it's a lot of effort for cruelty. I wonder if there's any chance that this was an accident, like they left the kennel there while picking up something else then forget about it. If it turns out this was an accident and the original owner finds out about it through the internet exposure and wants their dog back I wonder if the new owner will be able to legally secure ownership due to the old owner's negligence?

I'm just glad she's okay, and it looks like she's really bonded with her rescuers.

A lot of medication given to pets is similar or even identical to prescription medication for humans. In these cases, getting the pet version without prescription would let you circumvent normal prescriptions.

Vets are generally not actually that well paid, especially considering the amount of education, experience, and skill they need (at least to be any good at being vets) I think for the most part they and their staff have to be driven by a love for (at least some) animals, and yet they also must witness a lot of suffering and death of those same animals. I think it's a very selfless job and I have tremendous respect for them.

I'm glad the dog was saved. Whoever is responsible for her being abandoned there is a piece of crap :(

Well done to the adopter. And someone who does something like this should just save us all some time and off themselves.

That cute doggie is going to follow that new owner everywhere, to the end of the Earth if it must.

I'd like to find the original owner, drag him to the end of the Earth, and then push him over. :D (or, you know, any cliff will do - and drug behind a truck on a leash might be an appropriate means of getting him there).

Sometimes people wonder how people can care for animals more than humans... situations like these make it all that more impossible to really care about many humans. People can be disgusting fucks, I hope every one of them gets what they due.

It is such an odd story, as crazy as humans can be, this seems too weird. The placement, the cage.....there is always the possibility it was left there intentionally thinking someone would come by sooner and find it. Was it a hunting dog? Maybe it fell out of the back of the truck, but even then you would think they'd have come back for it.

It seems unlikely someone would have left it there by accident, but I can't imagine why you would leave a dog in a kennel rather than just leave it running on its own, unless you seriously were demented. If that is the case, the neighborhood better watch out, they got a more serious issue on their hands, like a new serial killer.

We had a case here where a guy put a momma and her pups in a suitcase, left them out in an alley.

Someone heard whimpering but they had been abandoned for a period of time, I think at least a couple of days.

People are disgusting.

I think the idea is yes, she would be found and they wanted her in a kennel so that she could be found more easily as opposed to just running around as a stray.
