COLD WEATHER SUCKS: Already SICK... what should I be eating?

My throat is killing me, thank god no fever (yet... knock on wood). I tried eating a regular dinner of fish, mashed potatoes and salad, but I could feel all of it clogging up my throat making me uncomfortable for a good hour, spitting out heavy amounts of mucus continuously... I know I should be drinking lots of liquids (which I am), but man, I have to eat too! What is good to eat for a cold?

BTW, BEING SICK, BLOWS :frown:

cold weather has nothing to do with getting sick.

True. Cold weather coincides with school going back in session, and we spend more time indoors when it's cold. Also, less UV light means more virii survive.

Sorry, I obviously spend too much time online. 😉

You're correct.

Man I miss the cold weather!!!! After living in NY and Europe the past 25 years...this past year living here in Hawaii has been hell! I hate the heat now!!!! I would be happy with just a few hours of sub 30 degree weather with a few inches of snow!

Always thought I would love to live in a tropical climate because all I even knew was seasonal weather...but damn...when its 85 degrees 365 days a year...its not as nice as it seems. Oh well...thats my rant for today.

Yes, these So Cal winters have been killing me for the past 13 years. It gets down in the 60s and even the 50s at night. In the 60s-70s during the day...sometimes in the 80s. We occasionally get rain in the winters but that's about it.

I personally reccomend lots of sleep (if possible) and OJ by the gallon. As far as foods, I'd suggest staying with soup for the first couple days, then just avoid heavy milk based things like cereal and oatmeal.

chicken noodle soup and saltine crackers 🙂

I like to let my immune system take care of the rest and not rely on meds or anything.. just a very good amount of sleep 😉

I'm totally blasting this thing with all I got. I drank some soup, been drinking OJ and water nonstop, just had a cup of green tea, Echinecea & Goldenseal caps, garlic tabs, and I'll soon be taking some nyquil before I hit the sack 🙂

I'll let you guys know how I feel in the morning. I absolutely dread going to bed in this type of condition b/c you know you're most likely going to wake up feeling like totally crap... all congested, throat is at it's worst, head probably hurts, shittty sleep, etc

Also, one last thing. I know such a thing as overhydration exists, so does the same apply to when your sick? I've been drinking nonstop (about a gallon or so/hour), and I don't know if I can actually overdo it in my current state.
