Cold snap in S.F. Bay Area (not as cold as 1990!)

I remember a cold snap that makes the current one look like Miami Beach. It was so cold in my kitchen in the morning in Berkeley I simply left my dairy out all night (40 degrees either way).

It was 32 this morning outside my house, but there was a cold spell here around 15 years ago just about Xmas when it dipped well into the 20's for a few days. What exact year was that?

About 91 I think...got down to 17-18 here in the valley...broken pipes everywhere...IIRC, it was in January.

My impression was that it was around '91 as well, and I said so when the subject came up at a party I was at about a week ago. However, someone insisted authoritatively that it was '88. There must be a way to find out. I do recall that it was late Dec., not Jan., though.

..I recall early 90's cold winter that burst my neighbours galvanized steel plumbing and flooded out her basement and back yard. I also recall snow in SF in the early 60's. I still live on the SF/Daily City border.

ener the zip code you want, scroll down to "History and Almanac", choose "December Calendar View" and go monthly... then choose month, day and year...

Thanks! That's a great site. Just added it to my favorites.

Dec. 22, 1990 the high temperature in Oakland was 38!
