Cold processor?

I just got my e6750 machine up and running.. tried overclocking but failed.. but what im really wondering about is even after running prime95 for 10 minutes speedfan says my core temps are 19-22C .. now this would make sense to me if it was like -20 degrees where my computer was but.. no its about 19C in this room.. Coretemp gives about the same and the bios too.. If I touch the heatsink it feels pretty cool as well..

And the Mobo is?? My E4500 idles at 25-27C when overclocked to 3300 (I would imagine if I had it at default it would be idling at 22/23 or something like that. So your istall is fine.

I don't know how you guys get such low temps. Must live up north or something. That's not happening down here in Florida.

They aren't. It's the 15C offset not being applied for C2D on older monitoring programs. 34C is just about right for the e6750.

its a gigabyte ga-P35-DS3L thingy, and the heatsink is a coolermaster hyper 212, in an antec 900 case. I left prime 95 running all night and the temps were reported around 20C still 🙂 so even with the 15C thing it sounds like I got one cool processor..

Edit: Oh and about Coretemp I'm using Vista Ultimate 64-bit so its a hassle to get it to work.

Wait hold up... the heatsink feels cold? That's not normal, it should feel at least slightly warm. If it feels cold then you have to have an improperly mounted heatsink.

You can't have an improperly mounted heatsink, when your 2.66 Ghz C2D is loading @ ~35C.

Volt:1.5V

no overclock.

is that wrong?

Sounds fine. Hey, my clawhammer idles around 50!

Yeah, I really can't explain it but even with it overclocked to about ~3100 mhz running prime 95 it doesn't even get the heatsink warm and stays in the low 30's (if I add 15 to speedfan) But I'm having trouble getting it to run over 3100 mhz..

True but when someone says cold I literally think cold as if no heat at all is being passed onto it. Anyway 10 Minutes of prime 95 isn't really enough for it to reach it's maximum temperature delta.

Oh sorry, I also left it going all night (about 8 hours) and the temps never really got much higher.. just reporting 19-22C in speedfan and yes the heatsink didnt even feel warm D:
