How does the movie compare to the book? Mainly, Inman encounters a lot of twisted characters on his journey (kind of in the vein of Faulkner, but not nearly as annoying or convoluted), such as Junior, Teague, Solomon Veasey, the goat-woman, etc. I'm wondering how far the producers went in trying to portray such characters in a manner accurate with the book and whether they toned down a lot of the violence, sexual overtones, and general absurdity that surrounded Inman's trip back home in favor of making the romantic plot prevalent. I know I'm being vague here, but it's been a year since I read it and I was just curious how things went in the movie.
