LOS ANGELES -- Several Hispanic lawmakers and activists are calling on a beer distributor to pull billboard ads for Tecate beer, saying they are offensive.
The ads feature a leaning Tecate beer bottle and the tag line,"Finally, A Cold Latina," which critics say propagates negative Hispanic stereotypes.
Labatt says it did not intend to offend Hispanics. It says the "billboard was meant to be tongue-in-cheek and humorous."
A Labatt spokesman says the company is analyzing a slew of comments on the ads left at its Web site and will decide next week whether to pull the ads.
