Wow, Visiontek going out of bussiness. With all the Visiontek "Hot Deals" that are sure to come out of this, there should almost be a sticky informing people of this.

I agree, I could go for this card on "clearance" for $150 or so. Sad to hear I really love my VT GF3 Ti200 @ Ti500 speeds.

just a heads up... i read somewhere that since visiontek is going under... they will not honor rebates. so bewarned.

damn i was mad late on this one... hehee

Damn :| I can't believe my luck. I'm expecting delivery of my card from amazon this week.

Can I just refuse shipment from Airborne Express & not get flagged with restocking/postage fees from amazon?

Thanks AT'rs. 🙂

Well i'm sure since they advertised it with a rebate and now its no longer being honored, you should be able to return it or refuse shipment. Amazon has excellent customer service from my experience. Give them a call. They dont publish their phone numbers on their website however...

AMAZON
Phone: (800) 201-7575
Fax: (206) 266-2950

there you go.

Gahh!! My card was going to arrive tomorrow or Tuesday too!! I guess I'll just call amazon.com in the morning and figure out where to go from there. Thanks for the numbers shurato.

Man, I was so psyched about getting this card and upgrading from my Voodoo 5 5500. Guess I'll just order the card from newegg.com instead.

*sigh* 🙁

Damn...
Now my GF3 Ti200 and my GF4 Ti4600 will carry "non lifetime warranty" damn...

one more damn....

🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁

I just got off the phone with amazon.com ... and in case anyone is wondering just refuse the shipment and amazon.com will refund your purchase 100% ... no restocking fee of any kind, and they won?t charge you for shipping either.

The lady did happen to say that it could take up to 3 weeks to get the money back. Oh well, better that than getting stuck with the card.

Makes me glad I got the Asus instead of the Visiontek.
fvckedcompany.com has 5 rumors about Visiontek listed but you apprently have to pay to find out what they are. :/

From ardocp:

UPDATE!

VisionTek has responded this afternoon (Monday, August 19, 2002) with the following statment.

Here is our official statement in reaction to HardOCP.com's recent post:

"An Assignee / Trustee has been appointed, and will attempt to maximize the value of the company's assets. His belief is that the assets have a higher value as a "turn-key" operation than in a liquidation. The Trustee is continuing to operate the company to determine if a sale is a viable alternative to a liquidation, and he is currently talking to interested parties. The company is continuing to take orders, ship products, and honor rebates."

John Malley
Director of Marketing & PR
VisionTek

Visiontek says they will honor them (rebates)

I wouldn't count on getting a rebate. The Trustee's job is to get the most cash he can for VT's creditors. If the Trustee liquidates the assets there will be no rebates because VT will no longer be in operation. In the meantime THEY will say almost anything to help keep the cash flowing in.

I for one wouldnt have a problem buying one of these cards, but I would pay a little more to get it from a B&M. EG. buy it at CompUSA with a 2 year replacement plan for $20 and then cart it back in a year and a half for a newer card. The models wont be around so they give you the next model up....Spending the extra 50-70 now is like getting the latest technology in a year for that price. Just make sure you save the box and manuals.....

Got mine Wed.

Tried installing it in my machine Wed. night. Found that when I turned on the machine I got no video, just a blank screen. I could even hear the POST process and windows loading. Once it loaded I got a screen with vertical bars. I went to another machine in the house and tried to VNC to my machine, no luck, but I could ping it so the computer was working. After playing with it for a few days in different computers, researching and trying various fixes, I called VisionTek tek support on Friday to find out what was going on. 1 and a half hours later a support tech came on the phone. I briefly went over my configuration, talked about the problem. He simply said you've got a bad card send it back and get another. I thought damn, what a pain in the ass. I've sent it back and am expecting a new one in a few days.

Anyone else that ordered this card have a problem like this?
