I'm having some trouble getting my comp to start up at 270FSB; it always gets stuck at the POST screen when cold-booting, never gets to the drive detection part. If I boot it up at lower FSB, change it to 270MHz in BIOS and do a warm reboot, it starts up just fine - runs prime95 for hours with no errors. What might be causing this problem? Could it be my power supply? It's an Antec True430, so it should be good enough. Memory is Kingston HyperX 4000 running at 5:4 divider, so I don't think that's the problem either.

do you know what some of your voltages are... while its running ... do they fluctuate alot ?

so lets see ... um memory at 270fsb with a 5:4 is runnnig at 432 mhz .. what voltage do u have your memory at? What voltage do u have your cpu at?

as far as i know a computer takes more juice when first starting up after sitting for a while compared to just restarting after its been on for a while (hot & cold ?)

and no offense but i have seen numerous posts as to the fact that those Antec true powers are not all they are cracked up to some times with voltage fluctuations and what not.....

how many fans on ur 12 volt rail ?

i actually was having some stability issues then i hooked all my fans up to a seperate PSU that i sat to the side and put a jumper on the connections so i just flip the switch on it before i turn the computer on
(dont worry im the only one who uses my comp )

anyway now i have 2 PSU's a 420watt for the comp and a 350watt just for fans ... ( total of 5-80mm, 1-120mm, 2-40mm, 1 Thermaltake Spark 7+ cpu cooler)

Note: i was having a similar problem of it not always starting up on the first try..... :p (& i also have a 2.4C)

Wow a PSU for all those fans. Sounds to me like a PSU problem. If you have the money get PC Power and Cooling 510 deluxe. You'll never have to worry about PSU again.

I only have 3 panaflo L1As and a Zalman 7000Cu. Also have 2 hard drives, 1 dvd drive, 1 dvd burner and a Radeon 9800XT. I know that places a lot of stress on the 12V rail, but people run similar machines off cheaper, lower wattage PSUs with no problems whatsoever.

PS: VCORE is at 1.575V, VDIMM is at 2.8V. The problem doesn't go away if I raise VCORE.

I have a roughly similar rig - had a similar issue while tweaking my rig - turned out to be a memory timing issue - RAM needed to be warmed up at certain timings and voltages. I don't think it is the 5:4 but check your memory timings if they are manually set. I have Corsair PC4000 running 1:1 at 266MHz at 2.8V with 2.5-4-4-7 settings. I tried 2.5-4-3-7 but ran into cold boot issues.

I was able to repeat the issue on a regular basis and wasn't gaining anything from the tighter timing so went back to 2.5-4-4-7 and no longer have the problem.

Does your board have a softmenu option?

Try to enable cpu interface in softmenu or try to look for an option similiar to it.

It worked for me. I couldn't get my board to post if the FSB was over 190. Now it's at 200x11 fine.
