Look at here: AT&T Wireless tops the number portability complaint league

I bought 2 phones for AT&T family plan and initiated the request for porting 2 numbers from T-Mobile & Sprint to AT&T ONE MONTH ago, as of today, none of my 2 numbers got ported, and my T-Mobile account has been disconnected last week.

I've called AT&T more than 10 times, the least waiting time for me was 35 minutes, the longest time was more than 1 and half hour with no answer!

Here is how the AT&T customer service works: if a customer service representative feels that he/she got a tough question, he/she will ask you to hold on, then put you back to the queue! most of my call ended like this and there was once, a guy just directly hang up the phone.

OK, I tried to go to the AT&T local dealer, they just told me: "There is nothing I can do, just call the customer service..."

It seems that AT&T has successfully established their corporate culture: EVERY customer representative knows how to get rid of you ASAP.

This'll probably get locked as it doesn't really belong here. However, I can concur on how bac AT&T is. Our company dropped them for Sprint last year due to terrible service (probably 50 phones). Lots of issues with Sprint too but at least their customer service is a lot better.

I guess writing "*cold*" in the subject makes it ok to post irrelevant crap in the HOT deals forum.

That said, I worked for AT&T@Home cable modem tech support, and I can confirm that their priority is to get rid of you. We were specifically forbidden to provide good support, because customers would then expect that level of support if they ever called back, and they might be disappointed if the average jack*** there couldn't fix their problem again. Our effectiveness was graded by call times.

Since I work in the industry and have been involved in LNP processes for over four years I can say...muhahaha, welcome to the world of LNP!

Let the learning curve begin...

WTF?! I tried to make a call today on my new phone on my new plan with AT&T and I get "Network busy" ?! I never got that crap with T-mobile. T-mobile coverage may not be all that good in some places but at least it wasn't ever "busy"... :(

I am sorry that you switched to AT&Hell. They have the worst service and it shows. T-mobile isn't bad but the best service out there is Verizon Wireless.

you can talk about any celly service. usually everyone has something negative to say about their service. all carriers are good/bad in their respective areas

Correct, Verizon is tops. I used to be with T-Mobile and got the network busy signal many times, especially in NYC when I was at a concert or other high density events. Aside from that, the only other complaint I had with T-Mobile was that I couldn't get a decent signal at my house. So far with Verizon, I've been able to receive signal everywhere I've gone. Their customer service isn't too bad either although I think T-Mobile has far better customer service.

Oh and this is very off topic for this forum =T.

at&t is great in chicago AND at&t customer service has always been good to me after 1 bad time. 1 out of 20 CS calls i've made. in fact, i got a great retention plan from a CSR there just on a normal "information" call while i was researching...

if you're wondering, i have 850 AT + Unlim N&W for only $39.99.

Yes, I could also testify the horror of dealing with AT&T.
Some representitive persuaded me to switch to AT&T long distance service (ground line, not wireless) by promising me 200min free calling time. Well, that turned out to be false, and they charged every penny of it. When I called their customer service, their strategies are: 1. tell me to call another department. 2. monotonously repeating their promotion of 30min free calling time, instead of dealing with my problem. and 3. "I can not do anything about it"
I have to call many times to get $20 refund to my account.

For service verizon isn't so hot either.

I cancelled service with them 2 years ago. I still get a monthly statement saying my balance is -$55. When I call customer service they say they can't send me a check without sending them a copy of the cancelled check for my last payment.

Now why would *I* the customer have to do the work, especially since the system says it was recieved otherwise there wouldn't be a negative balance. :(

I'm not sure what a "celly" is, but other than that, I agree. ;)

It doesn't help that service coverage varies greatly depending on location.

Add another guy who says AT&T sucks.

Several years ago, a rep called and convinced me to switch to their long-distance plan. It was an incredible offer so I was all for it. I receive the plan in writing in the mail and find it is not what I was told on the phone. I call them and they tell me the offer the guy made to me didn't even exist! There was nothing I could do about it. Unbelievable.

This past November, I signed up for the cell service online. I receive the phone and from the start, things don't go so smoothly. I can't set up my voice mail. I call them the next day and the problems start to pile. First, they don't have my personal information set up properly in their system so they have trouble finding me. Second, they never had me set up for voice mail so they had to add that. Third, I was not given the amount of minutes that I signed up for online. And I was told they couldn't give them to me because all that has to be done during their setup process! So they gave me some bonus minutes for the first few months. Simply horrible.

After a week, I call to cancel. The lady tells me I'm cancelling before my contract expires next month. I said, "What?!" She tells me I've had their service since Dec '02. I then tell her I've only had the phone for the week. Okay, my service is cancelled. Cool, right? No. Now, I knew they would charge me for the services used during the week I had the service. But they overbill me and charge it to my credit card. I call about this charge to my credit card and the lady confirms I was overcharged. But she can't refund my money to my credit card bill! I have to wait to receive a check in the mail for the amount owed to me.

AT&T sucks big time. I will never use them again.

Wow, that is just pathetic.
