Cold Air Intake

Honda CAI for a Maxima? That makes little sense.. and there isn't much of a performance benefit in getting one. Unless you're looking to change the way the engine sounds..

Not a bad price lol. But, yeah. You could do the same with some supplies from home depot. Unless you're going to run headers and/or some less restrictive exhaust, there's really no point to adding one of those. But, if you ask a ricer about a CAI he'll tell you it added 30HP. LOL

You could get VTEC stickers for 1/10 that price and adds 20 more HP.

Edit: But to answer the OP, don't they make CAI for your model? Also, why are you getting a CAI? Are you looking to increase sound or power?

As long as there aren't any O2 sensors on your existing plumbing and the diameters and lengths of the tubing fit you should be fine. Good Luck.

Probably so. They usually extend well away from the engine bay. I usually like to call the cheapo CAI's, HAI's(HOT air intakes.) lol

They have HAI, deliberately factory made. I'm not sure if any recent cars have them, but I know they exist. Wikipedia says so.

Yes, I know that, but when I ricer says, "look at my tyte CAI." And I see a 3" piece of tubing with a cone filter less than 6" away from a header......I call it a HAI. lol

They're putting O2 sensors on the intake now, eh? Remind me not to let you ever touch one of my cars.

Actually, some cars did have thermostatically-controlled flapper doors that shunted the intake path to an intentionally warm spot to improve cold starting and speed engine warm-up way back in the days of carburetors. Of course, the thermostat would switch over to cooler air once the engine had reached operating temps, so it wasn't a permanent thing, but it did exist.

I doubt that cars do this today as EFI can manipulate things much better than carbs ever could, but I have seen it on a few old cars with carbs.

CAI's sound fun, nothing else really changes, some cars do pick up a bit of HP from it, but its never too much. Factory style filtration works best though, aftermarket filters (like K&N) are not as good as your standard OEM type paper filter.

Well they do have those. They are called Short Ram Intakes which take in hot air from the engine bay. I have an SRI on my car cus the intercooler already cools the air and it makes a ton of more room in my engine bay to work around in and you can actually hear the turbo spool up.

I have a SRI on my Saturn too... Engine bay has never been easier to work in.. I enjoy it.

i custom made a CAI, but I routed it myself out of the engine bay and into a fender well that gets good airflow from the large hole i cut into the front of it.

The CAI kits for my car are all metal tubes that route right next to the engine....waste of time lol
