A Capitol Hill newspaper dismisses the notion that Comedy Central's "fake" news pundit, Stephen Colbert, is some sort of "magic man" or "kingmaker."
"There is much buzz inside and outside the Beltway about Stephen Colbert of Comedy Central?s 'The Colbert Report' being a kingmaker," Mary Ann Akers writes for Roll Call. "After all, it has been said, every House Member who appeared on his 'Better Know a District' segment won re-election last Tuesday. The Los Angeles Times even called him the 'biggest election season winner.'"
"Could it be that Colbert is truly the magic man?" Akers asks. "The answer, of course, is no."
Akers notes that "of the many House Members who actually appeared on the show, only two of them won their race by less than 63 percent ? and many of them were unopposed entirely or not even running for re-election."
Excerpts from article:
Who can forget Rep. Robert Wexler?s (D-Fla.) appearance on Colbert where he said doing cocaine and picking up prostitutes are fun things to do? But when you don?t have any challengers in the upcoming election, it makes it a whole lot easier to say such things and still get re-elected. He could have partied it up with Rep. Harold Ford, Jr. (D-Tenn.) at a Playboy party and still won.
As for the case of Rep.-elect Hall, it turns out that he is the only House challenger who appeared on Colbert?s show and actually won. The other four challengers who appeared went down in fiery flames. Yet, somehow, Colbert exerts a loyalty that is unmatched since the era of Stalin.
And what about the Senate? Ned Lamont appeared on Colbert?s show after Sen. Joe Lieberman (D-Conn.) declined to. We all know how that turned out for him.

After buying the fantasys of foxnews and rush for so long, how could a comedian be more in touch with mainstream america.
They must be kingmakers!
