Diet is worse for you than regular is so I would stay away from that.

Oh goodness, more unsubstantiated, groundless nonsense from someone who has no evidence whatsoever.

Scary chemicals! Hard to pronounce! AHHH! It wasn't in Fern Gully so it must be bad for you!

[nevermind ZERO calories, ZERO fat, ZERO sugar, and 2% drv sodium]

I love these arguments. All food contains chemicals...natural or not. If you're worried about them being natural, arsenic is natural too.

Exactly!

I am a chromatography guy, basically means I use various instruments and parts and pieces to separate different types of molecules from each other so they can be analyzed. Think about looking for a drug metabolite in blood; how to isolate, separate and quantify it.

Anyhow, I was trying to explain to a non-scientific lay person what I did and made the mistake of using olive oil and how all of the components that make up olive oil are chemicals. I manage chromatography products that separate those chemicals. I had to back-track and explain that everything is a chemical, regardless of how 'natural' it may or may not be. I suspect people don't think of everyday things being chemicals, especially when there is a perception of it being natural.

Don't even get me started on what 'natural' or 'organic' or 'chemical free' means!

All I know is that my dad drank 64 ounces of diet coke every day for the last 30 years and he is now having his esophagus removed tomorrow morning because he has cancer.

Never smoked a day in his life.

I will not b drinking any diet pops ever again.

That's because it's soda, not because it's diet.

Correlation does not imply causation.
