When reasonable people say that soft drinks made with sugar are bad, they don't mean that soft drinks are bad because they're made with "artificial" sugar. "Natural" sugar isn't somehow better than HFCS; it's bad because it's sugar, not because it's "artificial".

Never said it was healthier, but it sure does taste better.

To sweeten Coke, you add HFCS (unless you're buying a special edition version or Mexican Coke).

Stevia is a popular alternative sweetener and it comes from this:

Sugar alcohol is also an awesome sweetener, but it's expensive and a bit unstable, so it's only used in solid foods.
and hfcs also comes from a plant. so your point? stevia is lab coat btw

HFCS doesn't come from a plant. Normal corn syrup doesn't come from a plant. Corn starch comes from a plant, which is then converted into syrup via an acid process. That syrup is then put through an enzyme process to convert dextrose into fructose.

I don't like drinking empty calories. If I'm consuming calories in a beverage that's NOT a milkshake, I'd better be restricted from operating heavy machinery.
This. It amazes me how many fatties refuse to switch to diet drinks, or just stop drinking soda all together. It must be their genetics that drop them two standard deviations on the IQ ladder.

One tiny bottle a day of either won't hurt you you.

Lots of sugar will make you gain weight and probably get diabetes.

In laboratory experiments rats who were given literally hundreds of times the dose of artificial sweeteners a human could possibly consume experienced higher rates of cancer and other bad stuff. So you should probably refrain from drinking 100+ litres of diet soda or intentionally concentrating and consuming the artificial sweeteners.

I hate Coke most other cheap colas.

Yeah Coke is somewhat dryer than Pepsi, matches most alcohol better. But as a standalone soda I'd say Pepsi is superior, especially with cane sugar. And Vanilla Pepsi is awesome. :)

I hate diet Coke and its disgusting.

I drink 2 litres of regular coke every week only because I drink 2 quarts of rum every week and need the coke for it. I RARELY drink a soft drink unless rum is in it.

I drink diet coke. I'll go through a liter or two in a day. I trade off between that and diet Pepsi.

There are no solid studies out there that show diet soda is worse for you due to the artificial sweetener (in terms of cancer and so forth. The psychology part is just people being stupid about their diet and having false security which leads to weight gain because they're idiots...).

So you have the same opinion as chain smokers did in the 60s. Good for you!

Diet is worse for you than regular is so I would stay away from that.

I don't like sugary beverages so I would stay away from both of them and drink water.

If I am in a good mood I may take a Dr. Pepper or Sprite and that's about it.

My liver hurts just reading that sentence.

I know. Been doing that for years now. I drink 1 litre of Coke and a Quart of rum on Friday and repeat the process for Saturday night.

If I wasn't a Rum drinker (not much for beer) I would RARELY drink soft drinks because I have no desire to. rather water and fruit drinks instead of soft drinks.

So far liver is more or less fine. Going for a liver check up soon. I never imagined I would live to an old age anyway. So be it:)
