So I recently went on my 2 1/2 week vacation, during which I spent all sorts of cash. Over the past 3 years or so I've been collecting change from my pockets into a large can, just dumping it as I come into the house. I planned on rolling it all before leaving for extra spending money, didn't get a chance. When we got back here (myself and my fiancee) she forced me to drag it up to a local supermarket and dump it into one of those fancy Coinstar machines.

Here's what I got...

So for all of you who collect change on dressers, in your car, in cans or jars, just because (like me) you're far too lazy to do anything with it, take the time to look up Coinstar's website and find a machine near you, paying the 8.9% to simply offload a ton of change that'd otherwise be sitting around is very much worth it, and it paid for our groceries for at least 2 weeks :)

$13.41 processing fee? Banks will process coins free for their regular customers. Coinstar is an amazing rip-off.

I would never use Coinstar. Those things are such BS. At least go to a bank that will either do it for free or only charge 5%.

I dump my change on my desk. If I know I'm gonna want to hit a soda or snack machine when I'm out i'll grab a handful as i leave.

I checked, none of the local banks would do it without me rolling them first, and one that was a little ways away would only do it if I was a customer, and I'm not. I could really care less about $13, to me the whole thing is found money, it would've just sat otherwise :)

i rolled up 100dollars worth of pennies once when i was bored and unemployed. The lady at the bank had this "omgwtfbbq" look when she saw me come in heaving the box that was breaking from the weight of the coins. good times~! :D

My dad uses a lot of quarters for parking so everytime I have like 20-40 in quarters I just give it to him for cash :)

Other than that, I assume if I saved all the quarters I gave him with all the other coins just sitting here, I'd have ~$500...

you paid almost $14.00 to cash in $150.00 worth of change???!!!! why not just roll it and deposit it in a bank account???

when i was a bartender, i used to collect it all up for months at a time, cash it all in and buy something nice for ourselves!! :)

the b/f now.. drives me flipping crazy.... at any given time, the contents of his front pockets will weigh approx 11 pounds. four pounds worth of keys, four pounds worth of change and 3 pounds worth of nuts, bolts, screws and fuses!!!

:)

EDIT: just went and looked. The 5 gallon great bear water container is presently a little more than 1/2 full.
