Coin flip for free dinner

Anyone ever go to a restaurant where they offer you a free meal if you win a coin clip? There's this place out near UCLA, Skeuer's or something, where you can get a $6 meal for free if the coin flips your way. It's quite a sweet deal..about 12 of us went out, and 10 of us got a free mean.

There's a place that does that here on Wednesdays. It's only for their pizza, not other meals. Win the toss, get pizza for free. Lose, pay regular price. They only give the toss option to people who ask for it though. It brings in a lot of business according to my friend who works for them (and also "accidentally" sees the coin fall whichever way I call it when I go there) so the company makes all of it's losses back each night.

There's no catch at all, you don't have to buy anything with it. Every Friday night, you go in, order an entree with two sides..which makes for a nice filling meal, and then a girl flips a coin. When I went the girl called it tails every time, and like I said, in our group over 80% of us got heads on the flip..She seemed to want us to get free food even.

And if you lose the flip you just pay what you normally pay..

Aha! Since people don't know if it's free until after they place their order, many people will order more expensive items and extra sides since they have a chance to get it free.

Same psychology as the credit card companies offering a chance at a prize every time you use the card -- people make more purchases than normal and the CC company comes out ahead.

I need the exact name of that place

Edit: Theres a place called Skewers on Santa Monica in West Hollywood, is that the place?

i think it's Skew's and it's next to Mr. Noodle, where Hollywood Fries used to be. if you go to UCLA, you would know, it's right in the heart of Westwood, very close to the Mann Fox Theater where all the big movie premieres are.

edit: Link
